The Asian nose is distinctly different from that of other ethnicities. The nasal bridge is often less prominent and the tip of the nose wider and less defined than the Caucasian nose. Asian rhinoplasty is more challenging because the cartilage framework is weak and the overlying soft tissues are thicker. For this reason, Asian rhinoplasty mandates an entirely different treatment approach and skill set compared to Caucasian rhinoplasty.
Dr. Goretti Ho Taghva possesses the specialized surgical skills and a keen eye to detail to achieve a result that is attractive, natural, and well-balanced according to each patient’s unique Asian facial features. She performs nasal bridge augmentation with either a synthetic implant made of silicone or EPTFE or a autologous graft made from the patient’s own tissue – septal cartilage, ear cartilage and/or rib cartilage and deep temporalis fascia (DCF Asian Rhinoplasty).
DCF Asian Rhinoplasty is Dr. Goretti Ho Taghva’s technique of choice as it utilizes the patient’s own tissue thereby reducing the infection and extrusion rate. However, as surgery is more intensive and takes longer, some patients may still opt for implant surgery.
