With the LifTyte Therapy Tool in Newport Beach, CA, Dr. Goretti Ho Taghva of LEA Plastic Surgery offers a minimally invasive, non-surgical option for people struggling with a variety of skin conditions. From acne to eye wrinkles and from double chins to jowls, LifTyte works to rejuvenate and refresh the skin.
What is LifTyte?
LifTyte is a powerful treatment combining radiofrequency (RF) energy with microneedling. During this non-invasive procedure, the LifTyte device very slightly pierces the skin to stimulate and renew the skin and underlying tissues. This combination of controlled “micro-injuries” and the application of radiofrequency waves stimulates the body’s own collagen production and rejuvenates the skin.
LifTyte can be used to:
- Treat the sebaceous glands responsible for cystic acne
- Firm up the tissue under the chin that creates a double chin
- Brighten and tighten the droopy skin under the eyes
The stimulation of collagen production is key to the success of LifTyte and is achieved by treating both the upper layers of skin and the deeper tissues. This is a safe and gentle, yet effective treatment.
How Does LifTyte Affect Your Skin?
Collagen actually makes up a great deal of your body and is found in bones, teeth, tendons, and cartilage. The collagen targeted by the LifTyte tool and procedure is Type IV, which is found in the skin.
LifTyte stimulates collagen production by harnessing the power of controlled injuries. This means that once the tool is applied, your body will go to work to heal and renew itself. As your own immune system goes to work, the “micro-channels” in the skin fill in with new collagen, and the skin that was tired or sagging gradually becomes firm and fresh again.
If you’ve considered a facelift or are looking at cosmetic surgery around your eyes but aren’t sure you’re really ready for surgery, getting a LifTyte procedure under your chin and around your eyes can be effective without the downtime and risks of a more invasive surgery.
LifTyte also minimizes sebaceous glands responsible for chronic acne, particularly cystic acne. After the treatment, the bacteria that cause the inflammation, redness, and pain of adult acne can no longer thrive. The inflammation recedes and the skin becomes smoother and clearer.
If you’ve struggled with acne all your life, LifTyte can offer you relief from the pain and embarrassment of breakouts. You can be freed from the endless rounds of:
- Trying a new cleanser
- Using peels and scrubs
- Just covering it up
Cystic acne is embarrassing and painful. Worse, for many women, it shows up during menopause! If you’re tired of looking at eye wrinkles and acne, a LifTyte consultation is a great idea.
LifTyte can also be used as a targeted reduction tool. If you’re at a healthy weight but still see a double chin, you may be dealing with a fat deposit that weight loss can’t resolve. LifTyte therapy can be used to both reduce the fat deposits under the jaw and tighten up the skin.
Additionally, this procedure can be used to target syringoma. These tiny bumps can look like whiteheads, but they’re not a sign of infection. They are an indication that a duct inside a skin cell is misfiring or malfunctioning. Previously, these could only be removed via laser therapy or manual removal, both of which increase the risk of scarring.
Thanks to LifTyte, you can be free of these small white or yellowish bumps without burning or cutting. It can take up to 5 treatments that need to be spaced up to 3 months apart, but you will likely note a significant reduction after the series is complete.
The Consultation Process
Dr. Goretti Ho Taghva of LEA Plastic Surgery is a devoted working mom of three girls. Her clinic is named for them! She understands that you are busy, but she also knows that you are remarkable and unique. A consultation at her state-of-the-art facility will allow you to discuss your goals and learn more about the LifTyte procedure.
LifTyte treatments are designed to increase your satisfaction in yourself and nothing more. Dr. Ho Taghva will explain the treatment to you, evaluate your candidacy, and give you the opportunity to ask questions during your consultation. Your meeting with the doctor will help you to figure out which treatment option is right for you.
Your plastic surgery consult will serve as a reminder of just how remarkable you are. Cosmetic procedures are about confidence. You will likely be a bit happier with what you see in the mirror after a successful cosmetic treatment, but you might also decide that now isn’t the right time to pursue a new look. Dr. Ho Taghva will guide you through the process and help you make the decision that’s right for you.
Generally, it takes at least three treatments to see long-lasting results. This is a procedure best worked in small areas; if you try to do too much, you may be unhappy with the discomfort and the recovery period.
Be prepared for the long haul to achieve the best results. Also, be aware that your skin will need time to fully recover from each LifTyte treatment, so do your best to be patient. You may need a couple of months of therapy to achieve your desired result.
Most people experience a warm prickling sensation during treatment, as RF energy manifests as heat. You’ll be treated with a numbing lotion before the tool is applied and given a topical balm or a soothing mask after the treatment is over. LifTyte stimulates the immune system, so be prepared for redness, swelling, and possibly some oozing or scabbing.
If you can take some downtime after treatment, do so, and stay out of the sun. If you can’t avoid the sun, use a sunscreen with zinc oxide to protect your healing skin. Try to support your immune system with plenty of rest and good food. Vitamin C supplements may be called for, and make sure you get plenty of citrus fruits and strawberries in your diet at this time.
You’ll need to participate in a consultation and prepare for multiple treatments. Prior to any treatment that breaks the skin, try to stay away from NSAIDs and aspirin. If you smoke, it’s time to quit. It gets in the way of healing, is very hard on your skin, and increases the free radicals that cause skin damage in the first place. On the day of your LifTyte procedure, wash your face with a gentle cleanser and leave it bare.
Take the day off. You should be able to go back to your normal activities the day after your treatment. Be gentle to your skin; you’ll be given some aftercare products, so try to use them and nothing else.
If you’re uncomfortable being out and about without makeup, try to take a day or two at home so your skin can heal fully. Getting makeup, lotion, fragrant cleansers or sweat in your LifTyte treatment area will hurt, so enjoy some downtime!
Remember, your treatments will be spaced out over time. After the first treatment, you’ll have a better idea of how your body reacts to LifTyte therapy.
Any time you break the skin there’s a risk of infection. However, there are no incisions and the micro-channels are tiny, so the risk of infection is very slight. If you do notice extreme swelling, pus, or a fever, contact your physician immediately. Carefully follow your aftercare instructions, particularly regarding what products you should avoid as your skin heals.
The risk of scarring is also minimal, but an infection would raise the risk, so follow the aftercare instructions and monitor yourself as noted above. If your LifTyte treatment area has any scabbing, leave it alone. Your body’s healing responses have been working hard on what it sees as an injury or wound.
Let it rebuild the tissue under the skin into a wrinkle-free, acne-free zone. If at all possible, don’t cover any scabbing that crops up. It will put you at risk of infection and scarring.
